Product Formats can be pre-sold prior to release date. Pre-sold products will then be delivered either digitally or physically on their Release Date.
You will be asked to enter a Release Date when creating a product. Any Release Formats created will automatically have this Release Date. However you can edit this by going to a Release Format page > Actions > Edit Format.
Here you can alter the Availability Date of that particular format. This is useful for example when the digital and physical formats are to be released at different times.
Pre-sales can be activated by going to Release Page > Product Format > Actions > Enable Pre-order.
For physical items the availability date should be the date that you wish items to arrive with the customer.
For digital items this should be the date that you want products to be made available to the customer. This will become available from 0000 GMT.
Pre-sell physical items
For Physical Products this means , provided your stock reaches the warehouse in time, we will send your order out in advance of the release date, in accordance with average postage time to arrive on the date you specify.
There are two ways to put stock on pre-order:
You can either set an available quantity, or create a ship notice. If you have limited stock and intend to alter the amount of stock on pre-order before it ships based on demand and supply then please choose the option to set an available quantity.
If you have unlimited stock, then please create a ship notice with the maximum amount that you could produce as the pre-order quantity.
Select the Stock tab on the format page.
If you do not currently have stock for the item, you should ensure that you have created a Stock Purchase which is set to 'Pre-sell'.
When pre-selling a release, customers are charged when they make their purchase, but can cancel for a full refund at any time.
Funds from pre-sales are accounted to the store owner at the point products are shipped, or provided digitally to the customer.
If a product is part digital and physical, sales are accounted at the point the whole item has dispatched. We cannot release funds part way through a pre-sale, due to the relative risk involved in managing campaigns like this.
